Abstract: |
A Ground Penetrating Radar Survey was undertaken at the site of the Globe Theatre, a Scheduled Ancient Monument dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. Preliminary assessment of the data obtained indicated that more detailed analysis, and examination of archaeological and historical records, could allow a likely diameter for the later phase of the theatre to be suggested. An external diameter for the earlier phase, and details of the internal layout and any external features, could also be suggested. A limited excavation to confirm the presence and nature of the anomalies was recommended. [AIP] |
