Abstract: |
An archaeological field evaluation was undertaken which consisted of 16 trenches. The evaluation identified the presence of natural chalk deposits in all trenches. Two field boundary/drainage ditches of unknown date were recorded, one of which may have continued as a boundary with a fence line after the ditch had fallen into disuse. A further field boundary/drainage ditch was recorded which was uncertain date. To the east of the site a possible cursus ditch/palisade line was recorded which was probably associated with a round barrow (burial mound) known to have existed to the north of the site. [Au(abr)] |
