Abstract: |
Work was divided into three stages: an open area salvage excavation within the area of the access road; the observation and recording of a service trench which ran across the garden of Walnut Tree Farm house, and the observation and recording of the footings for new buildings and the underpinning of existing barns in the area of the farmyard. The excavation of the road corridor found evidence of medieval domestic settlement dating to the 10th-12th centuries. Other features of a similar date were recognised during the watching briefs. Post-medieval activity was also recorded, it appeared to be contemporary with the present farmhouse and buildings. [Au(abr)] |
