Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks at the site of a new classroom block. A simultaneous desk-based study revealed that the site had potential for the remains of a late medieval leper hospital, a post-medieval leat and Civil War defensive works. During the watching brief, it was found that the site had been heavily terraced, perhaps during the construction of the neighbouring Blind Institute in the 1870s. No archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed. [Au(abr)] |
