Trial trenches were excavated on the proposed development site. An unanticipated zone of Late Iron Age settlement and/or industrial activity was defined on the eastern side of the side. Enclosure/drainage ditches and possible structural remains were identified and moderately substantial amounts slag from smithing and smelting was recovered. [Au(abr)] |
