Abstract: |
No archaeological features, deposits or finds of any significance were encountered during the watching brief though a channel shaped linear earthwork feature, interpreted as a holloway or possible ditch was impacted by spoil dumping. The site was situated within a settlement of possible medieval and known post-medieval date and close to a Roman fort, vicus and cemetery complex; the negative evidence provided does support the conclusion that civilian settlement and burials associated with the Roman fort site do not extend far beyond their known limits.
