Abstract: |
An evaluation was commissioned as part of plans to improve management of the scheduled site and realise its amenity potential. Augering, documentary search and trial trenching focused on the fishponds at the site. These and other medieval features were covered by a large amount of overburden, but environmental samples revealed, amongst other things, that the fishponds had been regularly cleaned. Finds of Bronze Age and Iron Age pottery suggested even earlier activity. [AIP] |
