Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was carried out of the site of St Paul's Hospital, proposed for redevelopment for housing. Archaeological monitoring of geo-technical test-pits excavated on the site was also carried out. It was determined that there was medium potential for Iron Age and medieval remains on the site, but high potential for Roman and Saxon remains. The monitoring of the test-pits, however, revealed a high level of disturbance, so that it was felt that a watching brief over development would be a sufficient archaeological response. [AIP] |
