Abstract: |
The archaeological excavation of a service trench was undertaken during the refurbishment of the farmhouse. The site lay close to the Late Neolithic double palisade enclosure and to the West Kennett Avenue. The results included the discovery of a Late Saxon linear ditch containing regionally important artefactual and environmental assemblages. Medieval activity, including pits, suggested the occupation continued until the 14th century when the site may have been abandoned until the construction of the present farm in the 16th or 17th century.
