Abstract: |
A single trial trench was excavated in advance of the proposed construction of an extension to a grade II Listed 17th century house. The evaluation showed that, in the location of the trench at least, there appeared to be a large negative feature, perhaps a quarry, underlying the current ground surface. This appeared to have been backfilled in the 17th century, possibly during the construction of the house. This feature would have almost certainly removed any earlier archaeology. [Au(adp)] |
