Abstract: |
The report presented the results of the investigation of archaeological sites identified within a water pipeline corridor extending between the Rivers Tees and Wiske in North Yorkshire. The nature of the field investigations included measured surveys of ridge and furrow earthworks close to Birkby village and of the footings of 19th century railway cottages at the former Dalton station. A photographic record of station features and buildings associated with the Second World War airfield at Croft was also undertaken. Only at site F, where a hitherto unrecorded ditch and trackway was recorded, was archaeological excavation required. [Au] |
