Abstract: |
The widening of the road and the construction of three sign gantries would have involved intrusion into an area of considerable archaeological potential associated with the site of Springhead Roman Town. It appeared that archaeological deposits may have been preserved within the area of the central reservation and such deposits would be affected by construction activities associated with the widening of the eastbound carriageway and the erection of the gantries.
