Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was carried out on a site proposed for redevelopment. The assessment indicated that archaeological deposits of considerable depth, complexity and importance were likely to survive, their surface lying close to modern street level. Upstanding masonry of some interest was also present above modern ground level. The report recommended that development, if approved, be designed to minimise disturbace to the archaeological deposits, and that a phase of field evaluation be undertaken to inform the design process.
