Abstract: |
As part of a management strategy for Beanley Farm produced by the Northumberland Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) in 1997 it was proposed that Beanley Hillfort be used as an educational resource. The outer ramparts and environs of the hillfort were under plantation cover, obscuring the original form of the earthwork. The Archaeological Practice was commissioned to establish the full extent of the earthworks of the hillfort: to provide a boundary around the hillfort to demarcate the extent of tree felling should the scheme go ahead; and to prepare an updated plan of the hillfort.
