Abstract: |
A planning application to enhance facilities at a picnic site, which covered part of the deserted medieval village of Santon, resulted in the commissioning of an earthwork survey. It was agreed that the survey would also include the adjacent moated area, a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Other than the moat, the surviving surface features within the whole area were very limited in enabling a more comprehensive interpretation to be given of the settlement pattern of the medieval village. Medieval pottery fragments were recovered during the survey. [Au(adp)] |
