Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks associated with the construction of a water inspection chamber at a site which lay within a Local Area of Archaeoogical Importance, within the area of the medieval walled town of Southampton. A row of houses of approximately 18th century date survived to the west of the site, and a plan of the town indicated that the Linen Hall, a building established by 1553, had lain in the vicinity. During the watching brief, no archaeologically significant remains were found. [AIP] |
