Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during ground reduction and the excavation of underpinning holes at a development site. A post-medieval manor house on the site had been demolished in 1791, and a medieval village had lain in the vicinity. A previous evaluation had revealed evidence of brickearth quarrying subsequent to the demolition of the house. During the watching brief, fragments of walls and drainage ditches, truncated by quarry pits, were revealed. [AIP] |
