Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during groundworks to demolish existing houses and erect two new houses. A large ditch and a bank aligned north-south across the site were observed within both Plots 1 and 2. A further possible feature was observed in the south-east corner of Plot 2A. A piece of animal bone was recovered from this latter feature. None of the features could be dated. It was possible that the bank and ditch related to the Saxon burh defences, known to exist close to the site. [Au(adp)] |
