Abstract:		 In 1950 the Council issued a Memorandum on the Ancient Monuments Acts. This summary of the new and extensive powers given under the Town Planning Act has been prepared in the hope that members of the Council and other interested bodies will make full use of the opportunities which this Act provides for the protection and preservation of buildings of architectural and historic interest. The purpose of this summary is primarily informative but the occasion is also taken to draw attention to weaknesses in the present position which, it is hoped, will in due course be amended.
