Notes excavations on an AD900 structure at Castle Mayenne (NW France) undertaken by Oxford Archaeological Unit and including; a `light box' cut into the roof of an underground Neo chambered cairn on Orkney; and the transition of the Roman military HQ at Fishbourne into a guardhouse. In brief notes an intaglio engraved with the head of Caracalla (found at Trimontium, Borders); series of ditches and mounds at Inveresk Fort (E Loth); a mile and a half of prehistoric forest at Erith on the south bank of the Thames; and an Early Neo wooden club resembling a cricket bat found by the Thames Archaeological Survey in Chelsea.
