Fieldwalking in Tibberton: cinders fields

Report on two projects undertaken at the cinders fields site in the parish of Tibberton, northwest Gloucestershire. A dense concentration of large unabraded pottery sherds from the Roman period was identified in an area already known for its cinders or bloomery slag. The first project (and main subject of the article) involved investigation of the immediate and local landscape and analysis of fieldwork results, whilst the second focused on the geology and a more detailed analysis of the artefacts. The Offa's Dyke debate
