Evidence collected from the north-west Wales coast is used to in taxonomic study of fish-traps -- structures that have played an important role in human exploitation of coastlines from at least the Mesolithic until their use was effectively banned in the 1860s. `A gazetteer of fish traps on the coast of north-west Wales' is appended (81--3).
