Survey of the Roman fort and multi-period settlement complex at Kirmington on the Lincolnshire Wolds: a non-destructive approach
Dilwyn Jones
J B Whitwell
57 - 62
Aerial photography shows a complex site consisting of a probable prehistoric ring-ditch, the Roman fort and a network of metalled roads and buildings, all of which appear to represent different phases of development, with a major settlement superseding the fort. Associated, though uncontexted, finds indicate Iron Age activity, including a bronze ox-head bowl spout of c 50 BC to 50 AD, and a variety of Romano-British metalwork. Coins date activity at the site from c 100 BC - c 380 AD onwards and further detailed analysis of fieldwalking finds is needed to clarify the picture. AR
