Abstract
Defining and intergrating sequences in site analysis: the evidence from hillforts and other sites
David V Clarke
293 - 306
The author sets out his personal views on the problems of periodising occupation sequences on Iron Age sites in Britain. Focuses on hillforts and uses examples from Cadbury, Somerset and Scalloway, Shetland. Argues that the evidence that leads excavators to define separate phases for their sites should be explicitly defined to permit subsequent reinterpretation.
