Abstract
Burt Frank, founder and first curator of the Ryedale Folk Museum: an appreciation
Raymond H Hayes

Holdings of the Knights Templar in North Yorkshire
John McDonnell
5 - 8
Describes the extent of the Templars' lands in the county, drawing mainly on documentary evidence. Records from the Templar inquest of 1185 relating to the manor of Cold Kirby are of particular interest, because they provide illuminating details of land tenure, personal names, and occupations of the inhabitants.
A look at Old Byland church
Cyril King

Structural examination of the church, coupled with historical references, suggests that the building retains elements of a pre-Conquest Saxon church.

Graham Lee

Reports on progress with the project .
The village of Pockley: North Riding Yorkshire
Brian K Roberts
15 - 20
Presents the results of an earthwork survey -- supplemented by evidence from early OS maps -- of the village noted to retain a number of cruck buildings. Chris Taylor's earlier interpretation of the features is partly supported and partly refuted.
The boundary between Cold Kirby and Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe
Nancy Spratt

An historical account of an eighteenth-century boundary dispute between neighbouring manors.

George Morris
