Discusses the cross built in the 1890s for Sir Tatton Sykes by architect Temple Moore (1856--1920), which is an almost exact copy of the Eleanor Cross at Hardingstone (Northamptonshire). The cross has additional interest because of its subsequent conversion (in 1918) to a war memorial by the addition of brasses commemorating the men of the 5th Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, who fell in the First World War.
