Reports the results of air photography, geophysical exploration and excavation at this site during 1990. Findings included parts of a Late Iron Age square barrow cemetery. The site is partially protected by accumulation of aeolian sand.

A report providing information on the techniques, fabrics, dating and stylistic affinities of head-pot manufacture as it occurred in York. The historical context of the practice of a north African tradition in York of the the late second to third century is discussed, along with the distribution, function, and place of head-pots in the ceramic tradition of northern Britain. There is a catalogue of the thirty-two examples, along with two complete vessels closely related to the York head-pots. After the bibliographic list there is a table providing details of their distribution in York.

Reports investigations along the line of the earthworks. Toponymic and historical evidence is followed by a general description of the earthwork as a whole. Brief details of pre-1979 excavations then give way to a report of the excavations on Whinmoor in 1979, Barwick Road South in the same year, a survey at Bullerthorpe Lane in 1977 and excavations there in 1983. The results yielded information on the varied methods of construction to be found, but little concerning date or function.

Reports details of an inventory of the contents of a tower constructed in 1324, partially destroyed in 1644 and rebuilt in the later seventeenth century which was known to have acted as a muniments room for monasteries across Yorkshire. An appendix details `The 1610 inventory' (92--3).

A note on historical evidence concerning a church made redundant in the thirteenth century, and the fate of the site thereafter.
