Abstract
A newly discovered Late Neolithic building on Orkney
Beverley Ballin-Smith
1 - 2
An unusually shaped stone, initially thought to be from a burial site, was believed after investigation and excavation to be from a domestic building. High quality masonry walls were revealed, the interior being filled with a midden deposit containing burnt bone, ceramic and lithic fragments. A geophysical survey indicated considerable archaeological activity in the surrounding area.

Amulets and `triplet' pots from a Bronze Age cemetery in Fife
Alison Sheridan
4
Excavation of an Early Bronze Age cemetery revealed ten cists and two deposits of cremated human remains, radiocarbon dates indicating burial between c.2150 and 1700 BC. Two sets of cremated remains were however found to be Middle to Late Neolithic. In one cist a child was accompanied by a Food Vessel and imported flint knife and was wearing a fossil crinoid used as a bead. Another cist also contained a possible amulet. Three of the six pots discovered bore very close similarities.
Recent work at Whithorn Priory

A research excavation at Whithorn uncovered a large stone-built drain, a crude stone surface and the remains of a possible sub-circular, semi-sunken building; a substantial stone building thought to be medieval or later; medieval pottery and a siver coin of Edward I; and a flint thumbnail scraper.
