Abstract
A Romano-British, medieval and industrial site at Stonehill, Hanham, near Bristol
Vince A Russett
2 - 17
Reports on the full excavations of a site revealed during road construction. Fourth-century occupation comprised an industrial enclosure, a stone agricultural building and a trackway. Medieval stone-robbing activity gave way to post-medieval iron ore mining and or smelting. Finds reports cover metalwork (copper alloy, lead, iron), jet objects, bone objects, stone objects and stone roof tiles.
Architectural recording at St James' Priory, Bristol
John Bryant
18 - 34
Reports on a survey undertaken during building and renovation work on the St James's Church and attached Church House.
Excavation and watching brief at Redhouse Farm, Bishopsworth, Bristol
Rod Burchill
35 - 39
Concludes that Redhouse Farm dates from the eighteenth century, although a possible boundary wall may be of seventeenth-century date. No evidence of earlier occupation was found, and the area is thought to have been farmland in the medieval period.
A survey of standing garden features at Badminton School, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol
Rod Burchill
40 - 44
Records eighteenth-century garden features of considerable importance, including part of the limestone wall of an unusual `keyhole-shaped' walled garden and a greenhouse possibly designed and built by John Wedgewood. Limited excavation found no evidence for earlier use of the site.
