An update on a pilot survey (see also 98/379) reporting on excavation and further woodworking and environmental analysis of deposits in the pond. Environmental data was recovered from before the fifth millennium BC onwards, the majority of material dates from the `Bronze Age' [2917--2717 BC], when woodworking took place. Later occupation is evinced by timbers radiocarbon dated to the Roman/Early Medieval periods and two Roman metal bowls were also found.
