SJ 899429. Reports the rescue excavation underneath the stables which revealed four kilns and a rectangular chamber of the factory which operated 1751-60. Comparable kilns in Staffordshire are discussed together with the documentary evidence for kiln technology.

TQ 433793. Two kilns were excavated, both dating from the third quarter of the 17th century. One produced earthenware domestic pottery and had twin stoke holes; the other, with a single stoke hole, was firing Bellarmine jugs and other stoneware. Au(abr)

Two ring dials found during repair work at Conway Castle in the 1930s are published. Both have lost the secondary ring which, sliding in the groove of the main ring, would set the dial appropriately for reading sun time. In a test of their accuracy, Dial 1 was found reasonably accurate for the months of August to May, but Dial 2 was unusable. The probable date lies in the later part of the 15th-early 19th century range.
