Abstract
Bridewell Palace. Excavations at 9-11 Bridewell Place and 1-3 Tudor Street, City of London, 1978
Derek Gadd
Tony Dyson
1 - 79
Henry VIII's palace was built, largely of brick, between 1515 and 1523. The complex foundations included brick arches to overcome the unsuitable reclaimed riverside conditions. Part of a range on the principal courtyard was excavated revealing two stair turrets and the external Great Staircase. The outer courtyard works appear, from documentary evidence, to be additions. Fragments of the long gallery foundations were also observed. Building materials, documents, finds summary. Au(abr)

A M Terlinden
David W Crossley

Alan Dyer
207 - 218
