Abstract
Medieval metalworking and urban life at St Andrewgate, York
881 - 972
The site at St Andrewgate yielded evidence for both ferrous and non-ferrous metalworking from the 14th century, with metalworking workshops active from the early 14th to the early 16th century. The products made by the non-ferrous metalworkers were similar to those manufactured at the adjacent Bedern foundry. Lists metalworkers in the late 13th, 14th and 15th centuries from the York Freemen's Register.\r\n\r\nWith contributions by Lynne Keys, Catherine Mortimer, Nicola Rogers, Erica Paterson and Palaeoecology Research Services
