Protecting our heritage -- a consultation paper on the built environment of England and Wales
David G Buckley
11 - 14
Reviews the Green Paper issued jointly by the Department of National Heritage and the Welsh Office. The document looks at listed buildings, conservation areas, ancient monuments and archaeology, the powers and duties of English Heritage and the Secretary of State for Wales, and the removal of Crown Immunity.
Caring for the built heritage in Northern Ireland
Ann Hamlin
Nick Brannon
18 - 20
Describes the organisation of heritage conservation in the province, which comes under the remit of the Environment and Heritage Service, a recently established agency of the DoENI. The Built Heritage arm of the service is further subdivided into three teams responsible for Protecting Historic Monuments, Protecting Historic Buildings, and Recording the Built Heritage.
John Redwood's legacy to Wales
Charles Hill

The published guidance is thought to be an improvement on the draft issued for consultation, but there are reservations about the awaited Technical Advice Notes (Wales) that are intended to accompany the guidance.
