Uses field criteria to map the locations of seabanks on the enclosed marshes of the lower Banwell, in an area where sea levels have continued to rise. Suggests that although the banks appear in the cartographic record for the first time in the mid-eighteenth century, they are unlikely to be post-medieval in date. Notes that because of rising sea levels the banks over the course of time have been significantly raised and shortened, and the outfall on the Banwell has been moved nearer to the coast.

Reviews medieval and post-medieval types of roof construction in Somerset in the light of recent dendro-chronological investigations carried out by the Somerset Vernacular Building Research Group from 1996-1998.

Discusses the construction of Leigh Court, at Abbots Leigh, noting its external and interior similarities to Pythouse in West Tisbury. (PP-B)
