Report on the excavation in 1959 of an early medieval settlement at Lawrence Field near Hathersage, Derbyshire, based on the author's own records, much of the archive of the excavation and many of the artefacts recovered having subsequently been lost. The site comprised two medieval longhouses, the larger one opening onto a courtyard surrounded by an enclosing bank. Finds included a large number of pottery sherds, three flat quern fragments and some lead and copper pieces. A small lead bole located to the southwest of the enclosure was also excavated.

Account of a survey of the former Butler's Foundry at the junction of Church Street and Lea Road, Dronfield, undertaken prior to the completion of renovations and conversions in 2003. The discussion focuses primarily on the original building dated by dendrochronology to 1527 and its usage. Topics covered include walling techniques; layout and circulation; heating, and fenestration. The building's conversion in the seventeenth century to a dwelling house is also discussed, including partition walls, the extension to the east end that was added at this time, and the cellar which was probably added during the eighteenth century.
