Abstract: |
Survey of a c 500m wide corridor along a 64km stretch of the proposed line of the M74 (from Elvanfoot to Kirkpatrick Fleming). The general background, survey design, and fieldwork methods are outlined before description of the results. The future strategy for archaeological work is also discussed with action required at particular sites presented in tabular form. Tony Pollard</ze> \\bold{} (46--56) reports on a previously unrecorded lithic scatter in `Appendix 1 -- Kirkhill assessment'. Jane Downes</ze> \\bold{} (57--8) provides a summary structural report in `Appendix 2: burnt mound, Muirhead, Lockerbie'. These are followed by `Appendix 3: list of finds recovered from fieldwalking' (58) and `Appendix Four: the stripped area survey' (6 separately bound, unnumbered pages). |
