Abstract
Excavations at Barrack Street--French's Quay, Cork
Madeline O'Brien
27 - 49
Reports on the results of investigations in advance of development. Adjacent to Barrack Street medieval domestic refuse deposits and an eighteenth--nineteenth-century yard was revealed. Beside French's Quay a medieval timber waterfront and eighteenth--nineteenth-century structures including a possible kiln. There are reports on pottery; ironwork; `non-ferrous metalwork' by Thomas Fanning (39--40) (copper-alloy pins); worked bone and antler; a `Bone motif piece' by Uainín Ó Meadhra (42); and `medieval faunal remains' by Margaret McCarthy (43--5).
The Carews of Cork

Excavation of a ringfort, Raheens 1, near Carrigline, Co Cork
Anne-Marie Lennon

Reports on excavations in advance of development at the first of two ringforts (see also 97/***). It is shown that the fort was enclosed by two concentric ditches with no evidence of a bank, although a possible beam slot for a palisade was noted. The interior contained two round houses. Appendices comprise a report on `Charred wood remains from Raheens 1' (87) and a `Lithic report' by Elizabeth Anderson (87--9).

Paddy O'Leary
Elizabeth Shee Twohig

C J F MacCarthy
