Abstract
The after life of barrows: prehistoric monuments in the Norfolk landscape
Nicola Whyte
5 - 16
Considers the function and meaning of Bronze Age burial mounds in the medieval and post-medieval periods. It is proposed that the perceived antiquity of such mounds ensured the recurrent use as boundary markers, meeting places and sites of executions. This may have ensured the survival of certain monuments in areas where they might otherwise have been swept away.
