Peat profile, early Flandrian onwards; vegetation sequence includes anthropogenic and other influences reducing mixed woods to grass and heathland. Woody horizon of Meso date.

Nine barrows between Portreath and Crackington Haven were excavated in advance of defence construction. Recension of excavator's notes shows structural diversity and ceramic range of the barrows, which all came from cemeteries of five or more mounds. Cremations were accompanied by ceramics of later 2nd millennium; also cupmarked stone, handled vessel.

The two bracelets, of 3rd-2nd centuries BC, may be earliest in the British-Irish sequence; mid-La Tène imports?
