Reviews evidence for the original form of the crypt, seen as a fusion of Continental Romanesque deriving from Rouen Cathedral and elsewhere in Upper Normandy, and the developing Anglo-Norman tradition. The later history of the crypt is also traced, and the plan of the E arm examined.
