Abstract
Herefordshire barrows
Leslie V Grinsell
299 - 317
Three certain and three possible long barrows along with seventy-three ring-ditches - forty per cent of which might be round barrows - form the Herefordshire contingent. This number falls considerably short of many other counties' barrow count and it is noted that the idea that Herefordshire had a smaller population in the Neo-BA might be assumed. There is also a seeming absence of antiquarian activity with the author being unable to trace a single object from any Herefordshire barrow in any public museum. Arthur's Stone, however, is one of the best known and most frequently illustrated long barrows in the British Isles.
