Excavations undertaken in the western corner of the playing field, in a hollow dug for a school pond, revealed a late road surface (probably the post-med lane behind the properties on High Street South. This overlay an area of `vermiculated' chalk. (See also 97/772, 97/1314).
Excavations for the Priory interpretation boards 1994

Excavation of three small holes at the Priory Church, Dunstable (Bedfordshire) revealed levelling layers. These were confirmed as nineteenth-century deposits in two of the holes. Among the finds was an undated copper alloy escutcheon, decorated with fleurs-de-lys.
