Abstract
Analysis of window glass from Chastleton House, Oxfordshire
Nine diamond-shaped panes (quarries) and three square quarries from this Jacobean house were analysed. All of the glass was forest glass but the chemical dataset could be divided into two compositional groups. All of the square quarries were of a high-lime, low-alkali glass type, as were five of the diamond-shaped quarries, but the other four diamond-shaped quarries were significantly more rich in potash. These results are discussed and compared with other chemical datasets.
