Abstract: |
Seven timbers were sampled from the common-rafter roof of the west cottage at Elmside during recent renovation work. A ring sequence from one of the collars crossmatched extremely well with a chronology from Exeter Cathedral. The timber was felled some time after AD 1303 and possibly before about 1348. |
