Abstract: |
Charcoal samples from Old Windsor, Berkshire, were identified with a particular interest in the ratio of oak to other species. The stratigraphy of the site dates from AD 650-1150. Oak is the predominant species identified throughout the site and the relative abundance of fast growing stems suggests that much of the material derived from coppice wood. |
