Abstract: |
Several multiple ring-ditch sites have been observed from the air in Leicestershire: excavations on two of them are reported. Sproxton, set out on previously cultivated land, had three main phases and was used for cremations of defleshed bodies. Eaton showed alternating cremation and inhumation rituals (two coffined burials) and four phases of ditch/mound construction; the cremated bodies were not defleshed. 14C dates. Summary in Curr Archaeol, 7, 1981, 238-42, pls, figs. |
