Abstract
Beacon Hill, Bulford: a monument of the Principal Triangulation
Humphrey G Welfare
147 - 152
The earthwork is one of the few surviving marks of the Ordnance Survey's Principal Triangulation undertaken from 1783 to 1853. It is a triangular enclosure protecting the NE terminal of the Salisbury Plain base of verification; historical and fieldwork evidence is collated to set the earthwork in its context.
