Abstract
'The Lunt' Roman fort and training school for Roman cavalry, Baginton, Warwickshire
Brian Hobley
1 - 56
Third and final report. Closer dating is now possible: Period 1, AD 60-64; 2, 64-77/8; 3, 77/8-78/9; gap; 4, post-AD 260-68. Describes the excavations in praetentura and retentura including granary, barracks, fabrica, gyrus and praetoria. The larger-than-usual officer's house suggests the presence of a praefectus alae quingenariae and the Lunt was probably a cavalry fort. Observations on the experimentally reconstructed turf ramparts and timber gateway and granary are made, and finds are catalogued (coins, pottery, bronzes, glass, iron etc).
