Abstract
Joseph Ravell's A map of the town and suburbs of Drogheda 1749
Christine Casey
361 - 363
Discussion of the map's importance as a source for the study of the eighteenth-century development of town and its Irish Georgian architecture.
The distribution of Early Christian monastic sites and its implications for contemporary secular settlement in County Louth
Donald J Murphy
364 - 386
The distribution of monastic sites is considered in relation to physical topography, soil zones, and the distribution of other sites, such as ringforts. An `Appendix' (378--82) lists and briefly describes each identified monastic site.
Two medieval seals from County Louth
Raghnall Ó Floinn
387 - 394
Describes a seal matrix of the town of Dundalk, now in the National Museum of Ireland, and the impression of a seal bearing the name of merchant Walter Champioun that had been found in Drogheda but which is now missing.
A townland survey of County Louth: supplementary notes to townland survey of Beaulieu
James Garry
412 - 416
Continuing the series (see also 97/302), this article provides further information on Beaulieu field names (discussing the identification of an interesting decoy pond), and eighteenth-century tradespeople.
Excavation at Tholsel Street, Carlingford
Carol Gleeson
Dermot G Moore
417 - 426
Reports on excavations in advance of development on land opposite `The Mint' (a fifteenth-century merchant's house). The area was once waterfront and a medieval stone breakwater and later structures were uncovered. Finds included pottery, roof tile, and vessel glass.
Kilmalloo: a previously unrecorded church site
Noel Ross
427 - 429
Records evidence from personal communication of an old graveyard on land known locally as Kilmalloo. Nothing is visible on site and the church is not marked on old maps, but there are documentary references that may relate to the site.
Gravestone inscriptions in Dunleer
Pádraig Faulkner
Noel Ross
446 - 452
Inscriptions from the graveyard and from within the church are transcribed.
